SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
Unhurried. Safe. Quiet. Recalibrating.
As a spiritual director, I desire to provide a safe space for people to more deeply connect with themselves and to God through holy listening, gentle questions, and contemplative spiritual practices. I am drawn to those who feel lost in their faith journey, have experienced church wounds, or need a nonjudgmental companion to navigate life with them. I love meeting with artists, those in ministry, and anyone who’s living in the questions and embracing mystery.
It’s both a wrestling and resting place.
If you’re interested in trying spiritual direction, please contact me at nancy@nancywcarroll.com. We can arrange a time to explore what a spiritual direction session is like, if I may be a good fit, or I can help you find another spiritual director. It is usually more effective to find a spiritual director who doesn’t already know you well.
People usually schedule monthly one-hour sessions. They can be in-person or online. Fees are on a sliding scale.

BROOMTREE MINISTRY
Broomtree Ministry was created to help people come to Jesus again. The name is from I Kings 19 where the prophet Elijah ran into the wilderness to escape Queen Jezebel. All Elijah could do was crawl under a broom tree exhausted, hungry, fearful, and perhaps a wee bit whiney. After eating, sleeping, and recovering, Elijah met God in the quiet.
It’s what those in leadership, ministry, or the creative arts forget. That they need the same things they provide for those to whom they minister and create for—a place to be refreshed, replenished, reconnected, and refueled. A place to quiet the demands of the world and to hear God again in his gentle whisper, in what in Hebrew means “thin silence.”
Broomtree is not a program. It’s just a simple place with a simple listener. A place to reconnect with God, to hear his voice, and to re-find your own. To face your fears. To briefly whine. A place to figure out how to recover your life and find real rest.
We give individuals and small groups ways to “come to Him” through proven spiritual practices, such as lectio divina, examen, solitude, and rule of life.
We offer individual and small group retreats at Broomtree Cottage at Whisper Woods Lake in Vincent, Alabama.
