Beauty Refresher: Marty Balencie, Multimedia Artist

I met Marty Balencie through our InSpero Steel City Makers Five-Man Show more than 10 years ago. He is an artist to his core, and his medium at the time was blue painter-tape portraits, especially of those he admired. He does his art out of generosity, humility, and love. 

When I asked him what he wants to give the world, he said, “What I want to give back to the world is love and kindness. Nothing helps heal and change for the better than love and kindness.”

Marty is battling a Grade 3 Oligodendroglioma brain tumor and will begin radiation soon. I asked him how we can pray and help. He said, “This is not the journey I would have chosen, but it is the journey I’m on. I’m facing it head-on, surrounded by incredible love, prayers, and support.
